nWave Film Invites Guests to See Haunted House Through Eyes of a Cat

[Columbia, SC] - At Riverbanks Zoo, where the 3-D Adventure Theater is the only all digital 3-D movie theater at a zoo in the country, even the lions and tigers are asking the zoo keepers to leave the lights on at night. That's because the latest 3-D visiting movie, Haunted House, is set to run through the entire month of October and for cats big and small, that's just a little bit frightening.

"The 3-D animation in Haunted House is incredible," said Tommy Stringfellow, director of marketing at Riverbanks Zoo and Garden who brought his concept for a 3-D theater to life when he came to Riverbanks from Six Flags two years ago. "It's really clever and it won't take the audience long to figure out they're not taking a standard tour of a haunted house."

As soon as movie-goers put on their 3-D glasses, they'll make death-defying leaps, crawl through crevices and of course, chase more than a few mice. Taken from the perspective of an ordinary house cat, this cat gets more than he bargains for when he decides to escape a storm in a dark and deserted old house. Things go from bad to worse as he's continually spooked in each room he enters until finally he escapes to the great outdoors only to wind up in an eerie cemetery. Audiences will have to pay special attention to catch the surprise ending.

The 15-minute film shows once an hour on the hour at the 3-D Adventure Theater, in between showings of Riverbanks' long-term 3-D film, Bugs. During Boo at the Zoo, which is the last three weekends in October, it will play every half an hour exclusively.

nWave Pictures is the world's leading producer and distributor of films for the motion simulator market and has been instrumental in bringing back the popularity of the 3-D cinema experience.

Boo at the Zoo is Riverbanks' annual Halloween spook-tacular open from 6 to 9 p.m. each evening October 14-16, 21-23, and 27-30. Kids can wander through the Zombie Zone, sneak past the Endangered Species Graveyard, walk through the BatZ and BonZ Castle and get down to the tunes at Mummy's Eeky-Freaky DJ Dance Party. Tickets are $5 for Society members and $7 for the general public. Rides on the Hobgoblin Express are $1 and Haunted House movie tickets are $3 for both children and adults. Tickets to Boo can be purchased online at www.riverbanks.org, by phone at 779-8717 or in person at the gate. Once inside the Zoo, Haunted House tickets can be purchased at any ticket booth.
