[Columbia, SC] - The next stop on SCE&G’s ZooView webcam is the African lion exhibit. The yearlong virtual traveling tour will make the shift from the Amur tigers to the African lions this Thursday, September 7.
“This month viewers of the SCE&G ZooView are sure to enjoy watching these amazing, stately animals,” said Satch Krantz, executive director of Riverbanks Zoo and Garden. “The African lion is the largest and most powerful of the African carnivores and the ZooView is sure to highlight this incredible attribute.”
Riverbanks Zoo and Garden currently has three lions on exhibit, however, guest and ZooView watchers will notice that only two lions are ever on exhibit at the same time. The two female lions, Brynn and Lindsay are sisters and they will appear on exhibit together. The male lion, Zuri, is younger and until he reaches a more mature age, he will remain on exhibit by himself.
Male lions typically have tawny manes that distinguish them from female. Zuri, Riverbanks’ male lion will grow his familiar mane throughout the next few years. Zuri was born at Sedgwick County Zoo in Wichita, Kansas on August 15, 2004. The two female lions, Brynn and Lindsay were born at Knoxville Zoo in 2001.
Lion lovers will enjoy watching the lions throughout the day starting Thursday, September 7. To access the SCE&G ZooView webcam, viewers can visit a number of different websites: www.riverbanks.org; www.scegzooview.com; www.wltx.com and www.niethestate.com.
