| Vote for Your Favorite ZooView Webcam Animal |
|
[Columbia, SC] - What’s the big mystery at Riverbanks Zoo? Beginning July 5, ZooView fans can visit the SCE&G ZooView webcam to vote for the animal that they want to see featured throughout the month of September. Voting will run through August 16, and the winning animal will be unveiled on September 6. “Each month the staff is amazed at the enthusiasm and feedback that we receive from the public in favor of the ZooView webcam,” said Dargan Davis, public relations manager for Riverbanks Zoo and Garden. “This promotion gives the community the chance to view their favorite ZooView animal for an additional month on the webcam.” The animals with the highest monthly viewership over the past year were selected for the mystery animal promotion. Viewers can pick between the penguins, grizzly bears, meerkats or tigers. If your top choice does not end up on the ZooView webcam in September, be on the look out the following month on October 4 when the runner-up will be the star. The ZooView webcam is currently zoomed in on the wallaby exhibit. Riverbanks has five red-necked and four Parma wallabies. The native Australian species has a similar overall appearance to that of kangaroos. Wallabies are endangered mammals, and can be seen hopping all over their exhibit while cooling off with misters and sprinklers. Viewers may even notice a red-necked wallaby joey (baby) feeding on branches of bamboo or willow, a favorite dish in this herbivore’s diet. To view the wallabies or to vote for your favorite ZooView animal, visit one of these sponsoring Web sites: www.riverbanks.org; http://www.scegzooview.com www.wltx.com and www.niethestate.com. If you enjoy watching the animals on the ZooView webcam, then you will love seeing them in person. Plan a trip to Riverbanks and visit the entire animal collection.
