Siamang Symphalangus syndactylus

Siamangs mate for life, and cooperatively raise children. For the first few years of life, the mother takes care of her infant. After a few years, the father helps his infant develop social and physical skills it will need as an adult.

Siamangs have a wide diet. They mainly eat fruit, but will also consume leaves and proteins, like small birds or eggs.

Max and Hitam can often be found together swinging from island to island. If you can’t see them, you might hear them instead since siamang songs can be heard up to a mile away.
